Meet Enock Sarpong, A Year 3 GAP Analyst, Associate Member of ICAG, and A Beacon of Unstoppable Determination

Enock completed his exams in March 2024 while still in his 3rd year as an undergraduate student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that he completed all 14 CA exams in just a year and three months—a journey that typically takes candidates years. During this time, he balanced multiple responsibilities: schoolwork, rigorous training in the GearUp Analyst Program (GAP) (a minimum of 15 hours per week), and extracurriculars like being a peer tutor.

This accomplishment is not just a reflection of academic brilliance; it’s a testament to his grit, sacrifice, and determination to turn dreams into reality.

Enock’s journey began with a simple decision: he wasn’t going to settle for ordinary. From his very first year at KNUST, he made a deliberate choice to use every moment—every holiday, every vacation—to work towards his Chartered Accountant qualification. While others took breaks, Enock doubled down on his studies, sometimes forgoing leisure time to focus on his professional goals. This wasn’t just about passing exams. It was about proving to himself—and to the world—that with enough dedication, you can accomplish what others see as impossible.

His path was far from easy. There were moments when his university exams at KNUST clashed with his Chartered Accountant papers, and he had to prepare for both in the same week. Imagine the pressure: two sets of demanding exams back-to-back, the weight of expectations, and no room for failure. Yet, Enock didn’t falter. Instead, he rose to the challenge, passing all 14 CA papers on his first attempt, all while maintaining a first-class academic standing.

For Enock, pressure wasn’t an obstacle—it was fuel.

What makes Enock’s journey truly remarkable isn’t just his results—it’s the mindset that drove him to achieve them. Coming from a humble background, Enock knew early on that opportunity is something you earn, not something you wait for. He embraced a philosophy that has guided him throughout his life: "Justify your privileges. Do hard things."

For Enock, the privilege of education and the opportunity to succeed meant taking on challenges that others might avoid. He understood that real success comes not from avoiding difficulty, but from embracing the hardest path. He saw every challenge—every exam, every leadership role—as a chance to push his limits and prove that, with enough determination, there are no limits.

His relentless pursuit of excellence isn’t just about personal success—it’s about sending a message to anyone who dares to dream big: You owe it to yourself to embrace the hard path. The easy route doesn’t lead to greatness. It’s the challenges, the sleepless nights, and the moments of doubt that shape those destined for extraordinary things.

Enock isn’t just a bookworm. His well-rounded nature and leadership abilities have propelled him beyond academics. His diverse qualities—inside and outside the classroom—led to his recent appointment as the Speaker of Parliament for the KNUST School of Business. Balancing leadership roles, academic excellence, and his Chartered Accountant qualification is no small feat, and it highlights Enock’s unique ability to excel in all areas of life.

As an organisation, Enock’s success is a true embodiment of who a GearUp Analyst Program (GAP) analyst is. We empower our analysts with the mindset that nothing is out of reach. Dream it, challenge the status quo, break boundaries. Work hard at it and achieve it, and whilst at it, add value to others and communities. We believe in every individual's potential to rise above their circumstances and achieve greatness.
